Position Overview

As an Online ESL Teacher with Shiliu Education, you will deliver engaging one-on-one English lessons to students aged 4–18, helping them build confidence and proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing. This is a fully remote position, meaning you can teach from anywhere in the world as long as you have a stable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment.

All lesson materials, teaching platforms, and curriculum guides are provided. Our structured lesson plans make it easy to deliver high-quality classes without extensive prep work, allowing you to focus on what matters most — connecting with students and helping them progress.

We offer peak-hour scheduling aligned with Beijing time (6 PM – 10 PM CST, Monday through Friday, and weekend mornings), making this an ideal role for teachers in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions seeking consistent weekly hours. The typical teacher works between 15 and 30 hours per week, with full flexibility to set their own availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct live, interactive one-on-one English lessons for students aged 4–18 via the Shiliu proprietary platform
• Follow structured curriculum guidelines while adapting teaching style to individual student needs and learning pace
• Provide real-time pronunciation correction, grammar feedback, and encouragement using the platform's built-in tools
• Complete post-class assessments and submit progress reports for each student within 24 hours of class completion
• Communicate with academic coordinators regarding student development milestones and any concerns
• Participate in monthly teacher training webinars and peer observation sessions to continuously improve teaching quality
• Maintain a professional teaching environment with appropriate lighting, background, and noise-free audio

Requirements

• TEFL / TESOL / CELTA certificate (minimum 120 hours) — Required
• Bachelor's degree or above in any field — Required
• Native or near-native English proficiency (C1/C2 level)
• Stable internet connection: minimum 10 Mbps download / 8 Mbps upload
• A laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam (external or built-in) and a USB headset with noise-canceling microphone
• A quiet, well-lit, professional teaching environment with a neutral background
• Teaching experience with children or teenagers is preferred but not required — comprehensive training is provided
• Availability during Beijing peak hours (6 PM – 10 PM CST, Monday–Friday) for at least 15 hours per week
• Willingness to commit to a minimum 6-month teaching contract
• Basic familiarity with online teaching tools (digital whiteboards, screen sharing, interactive games)
